Harrassment
So.. what is sexual harassment? We hear lots about it.. but does anyone actually know what it is? Sexual harassment or sex-based harassment is when someone makes you feel uncomfortable, embarrassed, afraid, upset or angry because you are a girl or because you are a boy.
This kind of thing includes:
- teasing, name calling or making rude signs;
- making suggestive comments or telling smutty jokes;
- pestering someone to go out or asking for sexual favours;
- sending offensive messages;
- spreading rumours about someone's personal life including their sex life; or
- ridiculing, leering, wolf-whistling or making sexual comments.
If you feel like someone is harassing you. Say 'No' or 'Stop' and tell a trusted adult, your teacher, your parents or some other professional. If you do tell your school they have take you seriously, listen to you and act to stop the harassment. Everyone has the right to feel safe - so you can act to make sure you do.
